UPHA SCHOLARSHIPS: DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION IS MAY 31, 2026

UPHA Maria Knight Scholarship Fund

The UPHA Maria Knight Scholarship was established to honor UPHA Professional, Maria Knight and her commitment to providing a college education for her daughter. The purpose of the program is to provide a scholarship to children of professional horsemen and women.

Applicants must have at least one parent, step-parent, or legal guardian who is a current UPHA Professional Member, as well as have entered their senior year of high school at the time of the time of application (or currently enrolled in an institution of higher education). 

One $5,000 scholarship will be awarded.

UPHA Sandra Hall Memorial Scholarship

The UPHA Sandra Hall Memorial Scholarship was established to honor the legacy of Sandra Hall whose commitment to giving back to the show horse industry and its horsemen and women was unparalleled. The purpose of the program is to provide a scholarship to current members of UPHA who are high school seniors of freshman in college.

Applicants must be a UPHA members for at least one year prior to application and emphasis will be placed on applicants demonstrating a commitment to their community and/or the show horse industry.

One $2,500 scholarship will be awarded.

UPHA GRANTS: APPLICATIONS ON A ROLLING BASIS

UPHA Foundation Grant

Grants are awarded to 501(c) 3 organizations that are affiliated with the UPHA or that benefit from the UPHA and its stated mission:

  • to educate the public in general horsemanship
  • matters related to equine welfare
  • to educate and train individuals in the art of horsemanship
  • to encourage and promote horse shows and stimulate interest
  • to encourage, promote and advance participation in equine activities
  • to undertake educational programs

UPHA Professional Development Grant

The UPHA Professional Development Grant was established to support UPHA members wanting to pursue continued education to further their equestrian business endeavors. 

Applicants must be a UPHA member in good standing for a minimum of two years prior to application and must participate as an exhibitor, instructor, trainer and/or owner in the UPHA breeds. 

Applications are restricted to once a year per individual with a maximum of two applications and awarded funds must be used for an educational program or certification to further their equine education, skills or proficiency.

UPHA Dewey Henderson Benevolent Fund

The UPHA Dewey Henderson Benevolent Fund Trust (DHBFT) was established to provide emergency financial support to UPHA Professional members, their families or estates who require assistance due to certain occurrences including, but not limited to, death, disability or nature disasters such as fire, flood, storm or theft which leaves them unable to pay current expenses.

Applicants and recipients are kept confidential and must have been a UPHA Professional or Young Professional member for at least two years at the time of applications. Applicants are eligible for up to $30,000 in aid.
